This WWE Superstar should’ve waited a bit longer to make this joke.

SmackDown Live Superstar Rusev took to Twitter a few hours after the news broke of SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon, son of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, being involved in a helicopter crash.

This news shocked the WWE Universe and Superstars but one talent took a chance to poke fun at the situation.

For a quick recap, a small helicopter with McMahon and the pilot made a crash landing in the waters off of Gilgo Beach, which is near the Atlantic Ocean, on Wednesday morning in Babylon, Long Island.

The Robinson R 44 helicopter landed on its pontoon skids just before 10:30 AM EST. As a result, emergency responders picking up the men who were aboard and ferried them to shore safely. They were wearing life jackets and uninjured.

NYPD Aviation and SCUBA units also responded and assisted in the rescue. The chopper departed from the Westchester County Airport, and at some point, a commercial flight heading to Kennedy Airport heard the call.

They relayed it to controllers at the FAA radar facility in Westbury. The helicopter is registered to 'Awesome Flight LLC' of White Plains. Although it has yet to be confirmed, it’s likely that McMahon was coming back from Tuesday’s SmackDown Live TV event in Birmingham, AL at the Legacy Arena as he did appear on this week’s episode. He was seen on the show in a backstage segment with Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Lana, Tamina, and Natalya.

Rusev sent out the following tweet:

“When you don't respond to my video messages you land in the ocean @shanemcmahon #carma #WWEBattleground.”

Rusev recently returned to WWE television after undergoing an undisclosed surgery earlier this year. He was placed in a feud with a former WWE Champion right away. That Superstar is John Cena, who also returned on the July 4th episode of SmackDown Live after being on a hiatus since WrestleMania 33 following his mixed tag team match with his longtime girlfriend Nikki Bella against Maryse and The Miz.

Rusev and Cena are set to compete against each other in a Flag Match at this Sunday’s Battleground PPV (pay-per-view) event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center.
