Chelsea have signed their fair share of Spanish strikers in recent years - and they've just gone and captured another one.

Alvaro Morata has agreed to join the Blues from Real Madrid for £58 million and is reportedly in west London agreeing personal terms and completing a medical.

With the Spaniard set to arrive in a club-record deal, Diego Costa is believed to be heading in the opposite direction to former employers Atletico Madrid.

Costa was personally told by Antonio Conte earlier this summer that he hasn't got a future at the club, but luckily for him, Atletico were primed and ready to make a move.

Chelsea fans will certainly be happy with the business Conte has conducted as they seek to defend their Premier League title in the upcoming season.

What Morata will bring to the table at Stamford Bridge is youth - he's only 24-years-old - pace, strength and a desire to finally prove himself.

For too long the Spain international has played second fiddle to Karim Benzema at Real, despite his undoubted ability and knack for scoring goals.

Indeed, in 26 La Liga games last season - 14 of which were starts - Morata scored an impressive 15 goals, helping Los Blancos win the title.

For someone so young, Morata also has bags of experience in the Champions League, winning the competition twice in 2013/14 and 2016/17.

That's why Conte is all too happy to splash £58 million on the Spaniard, although that could rise to £70 million if certain add-ons are triggered.

What will also please the Chelsea manager is Morata's attitude towards joining his side.

Upon his arrival in London to discuss personal terms, Morata was peppered with questions by a Sky Sports reporter (see below), one of which being: "Why have you chosen Chelsea?"

And he gave a five-word response that will put a smile on every Chelsea fan's face, saying: "This is the best club."

Morata apparently regards Chelsea as "the best club" - and he also hailed Conte as one of the world's best managers.

"Antonio Conte is one of the best coaches in the world, so I'm happy to work with Antonio," the 24-year-old added. "The Premier League is one of the best in the world, so I'm happy to be here."

Morata's move to Chelsea hasn't even been completed yet he's already in fans' good books - let's just hope he can have such an effect on the football pitch.
