Burton boss Paul Peschisolido apologised to the club's supporters after their 5-2 thrashing at Chesterfield.

Goals from Danny Hall, Mark Allott, Jack Lester, Drewe Talbot and Donal McDermott sealed the Spireites win while Aaron Webster and Shaun Harrad reduced the deficit for the Brewers.

Peschisolido said: ``We gave our fans nothing to cheer and I apologise to them for that. We were outplayed from start to finish. ``We could not deal with Chesterfield's pace and movement they're a very good side and they punished us to the full.''

Referring to Chesterfield's 5-1 win over his side in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy earlier in the season, Peschisolido said: ``Last time we worked hard to get over the result and go on a good run and now we have to do the same thing again.

``I can take no consolation from this game apart from the fact that we didn't get any injuries. Even at 2-1 we did not deserve anything. The windy conditions didn't help but the goals we conceded were sloppy.''
