Barcelona's summer transfer window could be about to kick into overdrive amidst rumours Neymar is set to join Paris Saint-Germain for - wait for it - £196 million.

Neymar has an eye-watering €222 million release clause at the Camp Nou but quite astonishingly, PSG are prepared to meet it.

Should the Brazilian complete a shock move to France, Barcelona have reportedly identified the two players they want to sign using the money generated.

Monaco prodigy Kylian Mbappe is the first, who would cost in excess of £100 million, while long-term target Marco Verratti is the second.

That said, any deal for Neymar would likely involve Verratti heading in the opposite direction anyway.

Another top target for Barcelona is Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho, who the Catalonians have tracked for well over a year now.

Coutinho enjoyed another stellar season in the Premier League to prompt rumours of a Barcelona move, but Liverpool took steps to ensure he stays by agreeing a new five-year contract in January.

When the Brazilian put pen to paper, most fans assumed that would be that where Barcelona's interest was concerned - but they were wrong.

According to the Daily Mail, Barca have submitted a shock bid for Coutinho in a latest attempt to finally sign the attacking midfielder.

And the fee they're offering? A huge £72 million - £4 million short of Liverpool's reported demands.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to reject Barcelona's advances, but the random nature of their bid suggests this transfer saga is far from over.

Should Barcelona gain £196 million from Neymar's move to PSG, they would have the funds required to prise Coutinho from Merseyside.

Liverpool fans can't bear the thought of their Brazilian magician leaving, but money talks.

Klopp would do everything in his power to keep Coutinho, of course, amidst a summer where he's signed Mohamed Salah for £39 million and trying to capture Naby Keita for £70 million.

The German wants to turn Liverpool into Premier League title contenders, but losing Coutinho would prove detrimental to those aspirations.
