Derrick Rose's 2016-17 season didn't go exactly as he'd planned, to say the least. After signing with the New York Knicks last summer, Rose had big plans for himself, Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis, but those plans didn't materialize, as the Knicks missed the playoffs by a wide margin. Now, Rose is once again on the hunt for a new team, and has been linked to several squads this offseason, from the Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks to some more recent rumors involving big-name franchises.Rose and his agent have had discussions with the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers, but USA TODAY insider Sam Amick reported that Rose could also potentially return to the Chicago Bulls, where he spent the first eight years of his career:

Rose won the NBA MVP award in 2011, but he's not the same player he was back then, thanks to several devastating injuries. Therefore, there were plenty of mixed reactions to the latest rumors linking him with the Bulls.

There were plenty of Bulls fans in support of having Rose back, especially after the team traded away star forward Jimmy Butler this offseason. The fans below just like the idea of having a superstar around, even if he's not as good as he once was:

Of course, there were plenty of additional fans who couldn't wait to take to Twitter to blast the Bulls for even considering such a ludicrous idea:

When Rose finally makes his decision on where to play next season, Twitter is likely to have plenty of reaction, no matter where he lands.

After admitting that the Bulls were rebuilding following the Jimmy Butler trade, as you can see in the below quote (via the Chicago Sun-Times), it doesn't make sense that vice president of basketball operations John Paxson would even entertain the notion of signing Rose:

“It wasn’t so much about watching anything in the playoffs as really this was the first opportunity we felt the deal presented itself that made sense,’’ Paxson said. “I said at the trade deadline this past year that we needed a certainty in terms of jump-starting this thing. When you talk about certainty, you talk about young players, draft picks, that give you a leg up on it. That presented itself late [Thursday].

“It is rebuilding. There’s going to be a lot of bumps along the road.’’

It would certainly be a surprise to see Rose in a Bulls uniform next season, but when it comes to the way the team is being run these days, anything is possible.
