There are rumors that a top name will be signing with WWE shortly.

For years now, there have been rumblings about WWE being interested in former Ring of Honor World Champion Adam Cole. Now, it appears that those rumors may become true.

Cole, who had been with ROH since 2009, departed from the company in May. He rose up the ranks in the promotion as he started as a tag team star alongside Kyle O’Reilly. He would go onto to hold the ROH World Championship three times and the ROH World Television Championship one time. He was truly the face of the company.

Later in his run with ROH, he started working for NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling) and joined the Bullet Club as well as The Elite with Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Cody Rhodes.

They were and still are, a faction not to be messed with. On May 12, during the third night of the War of the Worlds tour, Cole was defeated by Hiroshi Tanahashi in a singles match.

Following the match, Omega and The Young Bucks turned on Cole and kicked him out of Bullet Club, giving his spot in the stable to Marty Scurll.

Dave Meltzer talked about Cole’s status with WWE during Thursday’s episode of Wrestling Observer Live. He indicated that Cole could be arriving in NXT any time now. According to Meltzer, Cole will likely be added to the NXT roster and could possibly make his debut at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn.

For those who may not know, WWE has a new policy that states that ROH talents are not allowed to debut for the company until a 90-period runs out.

With the upcoming event taking place on August 19th in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center, this would meet the required waiting period for the debut of the former champion.

This is a smart signing by the company as Cole is a heck of a talent in the ring and on the microphone. Some could make an argument that the company should have signed him a long time ago. He would be a welcomed addition to the NXT roster, and the great matches as entertaining feuds that he could have are endless. The WWE Universe should be happy to see him join the company. The big question now is, who will he face at the big event?, which takes place during SummerSlam weekend.
