With Tottenham now the only Premier League club yet to make a signing this summer, there's been very little for their fans to get excited about in the transfer window.Unless Daniel Levy's chequebook makes a sudden reappearance, the likelihood is that Mauricio Pochettino's XI will look pretty much the same next season. To put it in perspective, Blackpool have spent more than them this summer. The only major outgoing has been Kyle Walker, who joined Manchester City earlier this month. What a decent bit of business that was, though. The Lilywhites recouped £50million for the right-back, safe in the knowledge that Kieran Trippier can be elevated to first choice.Walker is now the most expensive defender in the world. Opinion is divided on whether he's worth it. On the one hand, he's an established England international and was named in last season's Team of the Year. The 27-year-old is quite brilliant going forward, but a little more suspect defensively. So, as the clock ticks down on the summer window and with Spurs fans having no new signings of their own to keep an eye on, they're unsurprisingly watching on to see how Walker performs. His debut came against Manchester United, which is always a tough ask even in a friendly. The Red Devils got the better of Guardiola's men, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.
A tough start
Early in the game, Walker actually came up with an impressive moment when he outpaced Manchester United's 19-year-old striker.
More generally, as the scoreline would suggest, United had the upper hand over City's defenders.
After Rashford's goal, it all seemed to get a bit much for Walker, who promptly booted the post.
He clearly wasn't enjoying it. Unsurprisingly, Tottenham fans were:
Pre-season isn't always the best indicator of how the season's going to go.
The real test will be whether United can outdo City in the Premier League, having come three places behind them last term.
Walker is just one of the additions they've made, following Bernardo Silva and Ederson - who had a horror show of Claudio Bravo proportions against United - through the Etihad doors.
