Chelsea have announced the signing of Alvaro Morata on a five-year deal from Real Madrid.Sky Sports claim the fee paid is £70 million; BBC Sport say £60m. Either way, Antonio Conte has got his striker after Romelu Lukaku ended up signing for Manchester United.Morata, 24, has already expressed his desire to work with Antonio Conte and his first words after signing for Chelsea will leave the club’s fans excited to watch him in action.“I am so happy to be here,” he said, via Chelsea’s website. “It’s an incredible emotion to be part of this big club.“I am looking to work hard, score as many goals as I can and to win as many trophies as possible.”Morata has already played for two of the biggest clubs in Europe, Real Madrid and Juventus, and Chelsea’s technical director Michael Emenalo believes he will be a great signing for the club.“We are delighted to complete Alvaro’s signing and welcome him to the club,” Emenalo added. “We believe he can make a great impact for Chelsea and look forward to seeing him in action.

“Alvaro has proven class at the highest level and his quality will be a huge asset to Antonio and the squad.”

Costa reacts on Instagram

The arrival of Morata seems to spell the end for Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge. The Spaniard has already been informed by Conte that his future lies elsewhere, with a return to Atletico Madrid heavily mooted.

Indeed, Paddy Power have suspended betting on Costa signing for Atletico, according to The Sun.

But Costa doesn’t seem too concerned with Chelsea signing his replacement, for he liked the club’s announcement of Morata on Instagram.

Chelsea made Costa decision in January

Costa and Conte clashed in January after the player pushed for a move to Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Quanjian, and a decision was made shortly afterwards to sell the player.

“I don’t like to talk about players who are not here but the only thing I can tell you [is that] in January, the Costa situation was very clear, for the club for him and his agent,” Conte, currently in China for Chelsea’s pre-season tour, said, per the Telegraph.

“For me the situation is closed.”

So out goes one Spain international and in comes another.

Conte will be hoping that this one doesn’t prove quite so troublesome.
