Very little has been dignified about Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather's promotional world tour.Critics have been deriding the pair's bout as a circus, with Oscar de la Hoya even warning that boxing "might not ever recover".Even so, it'll still go down as one of the biggest fights in history.McGregor's decision to enter the ring is unprecedented. It remains to be seen how the Irishman gets on against Mayweather in just over a month's time, but it's fair to say he's the underdog by quite some margin. When he's not antagonising the American on stage, he's been spending his time in the gym, doing his desperate best to learn how to box without using any of his MMA tactics. The 29-year-old has had numerous sparring partners, the most recent being Paulie Malignaggi.Malignaggi is now retired so he has no sporting interest in the contest. In fact, his only aim is to help McGregor improve.

McGregor has a dig

The gesture was thrown in his face somewhat by The Notorious' Instagram post, which depicted them sparring with his hands behind his back.

The reality is that it must have been a taxing session.

The Independent reported earlier this week that Essex-based MMA fighter Bradley Wheeler had knocked him out during one duel, so one can only imagine he'll have had a tough time against a former professional boxer.

Nevertheless, on the tour, McGregor has been no more complimentary about Malignaggi.

"Paulie talked a load of s***," he said.

"He’s being brought in to spar, and he’ll answer to what he’s been saying. Then we’ll go from there after that. We’re going to have a knock in the gym."

However, Malignaggi has been much more gracious.

Malignaggi responds

One Twitter user asked: "How can he [McGregor] not show respect to a champion like you?"

Malignaggi's response was classy:

Malignaggi divided opinion when he was still fighting, but he'll have won a lot of new fans here.
