Alvaro Morata became Chelsea’s fourth major signing of the summer in a £70 million deal from Real Madrid.

He joins Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko as Antonio Conte continues to improve his squad.

Chelsea made light work of the competition last season as they lifted the Premier League trophy for the second time in three years.

And with Morata’s arrival, they are well equipped to make it retain the title.

Chelsea’s expenditure has now surpassed the £100m mark but the club still has a fortune to spend following a string of lucrative moves.

The Blues earned £150.8m in TV prize money after winning the league and the upcoming campaign marks the first in a 15-year kit deal with Nike worth £60m-per-season.

Meanwhile, they could sell Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic for anything close to a combined £80m.

So it will come as no surprise to learn that Conte is still in the market for more players.

Chelsea are interested in the Ox

According to Sky Sports, next up on his radar is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of Arsenal.

They claim that Chelsea will begin negotiations next week as they step up their attempts to sign the 23-year-old.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is yet to sign an extension on his current deal, which expires in 2018, and Sky Sports say that the midfielder reiterated to Arsene Wenger this week that he has no intention of signing the latest deal on offer.

Chelsea are expected to begin negotiations within 48 hours of Arsenal’s return from China on Sunday.

Chelsea play Arsenal today

The latest rumour will increase the intensity of today’s clash between the two sides at the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing.

Arsenal defeated Chelsea in the FA Cup final just eight weeks ago and there will be another meeting on August 6 in the Community Shield.

And Wenger believes today’s friendly is more than just an exhibition match.

"It is difficult to predict, but I think it is a friendly between Arsenal and Chelsea, that means it is not really a friendly," Wenger said, via the Independent

"There is some pride at stake and a desire to win.

“We know each other very well and it is difficult to know how prepared Chelsea are and how far we are for the preparation.”

Arsenal can send Oxlade-Chamberlain another message of their ambitions with a second win over Chelsea in less than two months.
