We’re on the brink of the biggest transfer in football history.

That’s because Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on the signing Neymar for a crazy £199 million.

Reports emerged earlier this week that the Brazilian was looking to leave the Camp Nou in a bid to further his career by stepping out from Lionel Messi’s shadow.

The forward has a release clause of €222 million and PSG are one of very few clubs that can afford that. If they do trigger it, Barca will be powerless to prevent the player from leaving.

But just because the Ligue 1 side are willing to pay Neymar’s release clause, it doesn’t necessarily mean the 25-year-old will leave.

Neymar's decision

However, according to the latest report from the Guardian, it seems he’s made his decision.

Sources close to PSG have told the Guardian on Friday night that Neymar has decided he wants to leave Barca for PSG.

French outlet Le Parisien were also reporting that Neymar has told some of his Barcelona teammates that he was joining his Brazilian friends Thiago Silva, Dani Alves, Marquinhos and Lucas at the Parc des Princes.

Furthermore, Neymar’s father is expected to travel to Paris this weekend to finalise the deal.

It seems Neymar to PSG is a matter of when, not if.

PSG's pursuit of Alexis Sanchez

The Guardian’s report also mentions PSG’s pursuit of Alexis Sanchez. You would think that signing a player for £199 million would mean they wouldn’t be signing Sanchez.

However, that’s far from the truth.

PSG are ‘increasingly confident’ of signing both Neymar and Sanchez with the French club convinced Arsenal will accept defeat and allow the Chilean to leave.

Unai Emery’s side have already lodged a £40.3 million bid and are set to increase their offer to £44.8 million.

With Sanchez having just 12 months remaining on his contract, Arsene Wenger will be faced with the difficult decision to either allow his star player to leave or keep him at the club and risk him leaving for free in 12 months time.

PSG could have a rather incredible squad this season…
