By Barcelona's incredibly high standards, 2016-17, Luis Enrique's final year as manager, was a rather disappointing campaign.

They were dethroned as champions of Spain by bitter rivals Real Madrid and were knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus at the quarter-final stage.

Barca did retain the Copa del Rey, however, and one of their best performers last term was undoubtedly Neymar, who has now spent four years at the Nou Camp.

The Brazilian superstar scored 20 goals and provided 21 assists in 45 games, but several reports are indicating that he is ready to leave and join French club Paris Saint-Germain.

As you would expect, Barcelona's players are desperate for Neymar to stay, and what they have been doing since he returned to training has now been revealed.

What Barca stars are doing to stop Neymar leaving

Given that Neymar swapping Catalonia for the French capital is a genuine possibility, the entire Barca dressing room is making one final and desperate attempt to get him to stay.

The forward, still only 25, has won eight major trophies at the club, including the Champions League, and scored a whopping 105 goals in 186 matches since moving from Santos in 2013.

Spanish news outlet Sport have reported that members of the Barcelona squad are taking turns to try and convince the skilful forward not to accept PSG's lucrative offer.

Paris, who were eliminated from the Champions League by Barca last season in dramatic fashion, are currently the only club willing to meet Neymar's £197 million release clause.

Barca striker Luis Suarez was the first person to talk to Neymar in an effort to stop the deal, and the conversation took place on the plane to their pre-season tour of America.

Since then, his teammates have been taking turns to persuade him to reconsider and stay, letting him know just how highly regarded he is within the squad and telling him that he is better off at Barcelona than he would be in the French league (Ligue 1).

That said, Sport claim that Neymar has been quiet since returning to training and the other Barca players' gut feeling is that his mind is made up.

Barca without Neymar?

Despite him being a vital player for Barcelona, the Catalan giants seem to have given up trying to stop Neymar leaving and are already planning for a future without him.

Meanwhile, his Brazil international teammates at PSG - Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Lucas Moura and now ex-Barca man Dani Alves, are all trying to get him to join them in France.

In recent years, Barca have always had icons in their side, from Ronaldinho and Xavi to currently Leo Messi and captain Andres Iniesta.

With both Suarez and Messi now aged 30, Neymar is the only one from the devastating "MSN" trio who would be able to lead Barca into a new era under Ernesto Valverde and his departure would be a massive loss moving forward.
