Money, of course, isn’t always a first class ticket to success, however. And while Milan’s chances of recovering their Serie A fortunes have undoubtedly soared, all eyes will be on them when August rolls round.

Furthermore, pre-season will be play a large role in allowing the deluge of new signings to gel ahead of the new campaign.

It’s fair to say they’ve made a flying start.

Bayern Munich are no easy competitors and the difficult fight they gave Real Madrid in last year’s Champions League quarter finals is testament to that. In the build-up to the friendly too, Milan had suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

When you consider Bayern finished a hearty 18 points ahead of Dortmund last season in the Bundesliga, it didn’t bode well for Milan.

However, new signings in tow, the Rosseneri turned on the style. Just 14 minutes into the clash and loan capture Franck Kessie opening the scoring for the Italians.

Patrick Cutrone then piled in on the action, mere weeks after securing his first professional contract with the club. The 19-year-old found the net in the 25th and 43rd minute to propel Milan into an unprecedented 3-0 lead.

How do Bayern respond? Like only the Bavarians know how to – a brilliantly entertaining tweet. Check it out below:

And while their account reiterated that Carlo Ancelotti’s men could claw the game back after the break, proceedings only went further downhill. It must be conceded that, in fairness, Bayern did inflict a fair share of their own pressure through the game.

Nevertheless, Calhanoglu delivered the final blow late on, his cutting right-footed shot making it 4-0 and putting the game to bed. Cue another inspired tweet:

The anger is palpable and it seems everybody absolutely loved them, with good reason too. Some of the best Twitter reaction can be seen here:

When your side includes Mats Hummels, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery and your opponents are fielding Fabio Borini, the frustration is more than understandable.

The game also marked Bonucci’s debut for Milan and what could be Renato Sanches’ final appearance for their opponents. Along with Torino hitman Andrea Belotti, the Portuguese is believed to be on Milan’s watchlist this summer.

Already displaying the ability to rout the German champions, any new signings will surely serve to bolster the Rossoneri’s charge. For the first time in six years, Juventus might have to watch their backs.
