WWE has big plans for the “Big Dog” in the coming months.

Roman Reigns wrestled Samoa Joe in a #1 contender’s match on this past week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

The winner of this match was supposed to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at this year’s SummerSlam at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York that will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. Both Raw and SmackDown rosters will be featured on the card.

However, the match ended in a double DQ as Braun Strowman attacked both Superstars in the main event. Raw General Manager Kurt Angle is supposed to address the situation on next week’s Raw.

WWE will likely book another match between Joe and Reigns before SummerSlam in order to determine the #1 contender for the title.

According to reports, Reigns will likely end up defeating Lesnar for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. It’s believed that Lesnar will drop the title to Reigns at the event.

This will be a one and done program as WWE is already planning for Reigns’ next opponent. According to Cageside Seats, WWE is looking into renewing an old rivalry once the title changes hands.

WWE reportedly wants to heat up Bray Wyatt for a Universal Championship feud with Reigns after SummerSlam. Thus, this is the reason why Bray defeated Seth Rollins at the last WWE PPV (pay-per-view) event, Great Balls of Fire.

Fans are familiar with these two Superstars as they have already worked together quite a bit in the past, and it hasn’t exactly been something that WWE fans have been begging to see as of late.

Despite that, WWE plans on making that match happen. This may be a mistake on WWE’s part. Why would you book a program that has been done several times and something that fans really don’t want to see.

However, when WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has an idea in his mind, he will go ahead with it despite the negative push back. A perfect example of that is the feud between Randy Orton and John Cena.

They have done that program so many times and most of the time; the matches are not that good despite them being huge Superstars.
