He may have one of the most famous dad’s in the world of boxing, whilst also sharing that famous name, but Chris Eubank Jnr is certainly making his own name in the sport.Eubank Jnr is known for his clean fighting style and almost gentlemanly conduct in most things he does, much like his father. But, that has all been thrown into contention after Billy Joe Saunders made claims Eubank Jnr made a slanderous comment about his financial and living situation. The two have been bitter rivals since 2014, when the two fought and Eubank Jnr lost his only professional career fight to date in 26 fights. The fight went to a split-decision in November that year with Saunders being the victor, but the IBO champ Eubank Jnr feeling the judges had called it wrong.Since then, Eubank Jnr has expressed his desire on multiple occasions to get back into the ring with his rival. In April 2016, he said: “I want to put a loss on his record like he did to me, he has a win over me which I feel he does not deserve, that he did not truly earn and I want to right that wrong.”Saunders distanced himself from the rematch, choosing to focus on other opponents, but Eubank Snr try to stoke the fire between the two of them by taking to Twitter to compare the two and claiming with his son’s new physique and Saunders much heavy, bloated look, the fight has become “a mismatch.”

Fans reacted to the post in a series of replies, one with photo of Billy Joe’s hands aloft and a deflated Eubank Jnr beside him after their November 2014 fight.

Another said: “I think you’ll find @bjsaunders_ has already answered your question….”

Yesterday, Saunders added his two cents to the slanging match, by claiming Eubank Jnr made a jibe at him about living in a caravan. A Romany gypsy, Saunders was upset that Eubank Jnr chose to make this comment.

“As far as I know, he is living in a caravan – so I think that says it all.”

Saunders, the WBO middleweight champion, replied with: “That says it all, we are scum."

Eubank Jnr Defends His Comments

Yet, Eubank Jnr has come out to explain his comments, insisting he has the greatest of respect for the travelling community.

He said, talking to SunSport: “The Eubanks – me and my dad – have the greatest respect for the travelling community and we are honoured they have supported both his and my career.

“Billy Joe knows that, everyone knows that.

“My respect for him though is very different and trying to turn my words into bitterness is disrespectful to his own community."

Eubank Jnr said he was honoured to have fans from the travelling community and that “everyone knows that.”

He clearly feel Saunders is trying dirty tactics to turn people against him and said: “My respect for him [Saunders], though, is very different and trying to turn my words into bitterness is disrespectful to his own community.”

In a final jab at his rival, Eubank Jnr said: “My achievements say it all but we can sort it out in the ring.”

I say get them back in the ring together and let them have a showdown. Winner takes all – titles, bragging rights and pride.
