Andrew 'Beef' Johnston has hit back at the accusation that he is a clown.
On TalkSPORT’s 'Two Mikes' program, Mike Parry ranted to co-presenter Mike Graham about the golfer, and then started a poll on Twitter, asking fans whether he was a clown or an inspiration.
Mike Parry has taken issue with Johnson’s persona on the course, taking particular issue with the fact that the golfer was announced as ‘Beef’ when he came up to the tee.
“He forms himself like a clown, stays as a clown, looks like a clown, performs like a clown and is referred to as a clown,” Parry said.
The 82-year-old then took to social media to post a poll on whether ‘Beef’ is a clown or an inspiration.
Parry did not stop there, however, he then labelled the golfer 'a grinning jabbernacker' and a disgrace who should not be allowed to ruin the dignity of golf with his apparent misdemeanours.
Regardless of his apparent misdemeanours, the 28-year-old Londoner is one of the most popular golfers on tour and took over two hours to complete his seven-hole training run, as he signed autographs for anyone who asked.
The Londoner took to Twitter to refute the claims made by the TalkSPORT presenters, and over the course of five hours, voiced his displeasure, even going as far as to call for the pair's resignation.
“If I'm a clown for enjoying my work then so be it. Ur a sad person and couldn't care less wat u think.
“Never been bout money. @mikeparry8 look at wat I'm doing trying to get into sports ur a d*******
“These people can do one sad sad people s*** show @TheTwoMikes.
“Wats it got to do with my beard. Pull that poll down that's bang out of order. Winner someday already won mate.
“I'm going after Mike parry mate. That poll is a joke. Shouldn't even be up.
“Cos it's out of order. I'll just keep hammering u until u take it down.
“Sorry for rant but some people gotta get sometimes. I love u all.
“There a joke. Pathetic.
“Shouldn't u be cleaning out ur studio. Resign.
“I have been called a bushy big teeth clown by u. U think I'm not gonna defend myself.
“I give my absolute best on course and to people to make them have a great day and u call me that. I'm no clown it's out of order.”
As you can see, 'Beef' didn't take too kindly to being called a clown, and nor should he, he's a professional golfer just like any other.
You wouldn't see a presenter call Tiger Woods a clown during his prime, so why should Johnston accept it?
