The current world transfer record in football stands at £89 million, when Paul Pogba completed a sensational return to Manchester United last summer.

But now, 12 months on, that record is apparently about to be absolutely shattered.

Neymar is reportedly on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain, who are prepared to pay his £196 million release clause at Barcelona in full.

This is according to Marca, who add that Neymar will sign a six-year deal in Paris worth a mind-blowing £500,000-per-week.

The Brazilian showed exactly why PSG are willing to pay his release clause on Saturday night by scoring a special brace against Juventus in the International Champions Cup.

Neymar took his first goal well, but for his second, he dribbled past five Juventus players no less inside the 18-yard box before beating Gianluigi Buffon.

It was a goal that perfectly encapsulated Neymar's talent, so much so that he's probably never scored a better solo effort.

Losing him would come as a huge blow to Barcelona, but no two players would be more affected by his departure than Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Messi, Suarez and Neymar, otherwise known as 'MSN', form the deadliest attacking trio on the planet, if not in the history of football.

But without Neymar, 'MSN' would be no more, so it's understandable that Messi and Suarez are desperate for him to ignore PSG and stay at Barcelona.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, per the Mirror, the pair have spoken to Neymar about the PSG rumours, telling him: "You cannot leave us now."

Five powerful words that would have tugged on Neymar's heart strings and showed to him just how much he means to Messi and Suarez.

Sport also claim Neymar had a response for his Barcelona teammates - and the two words he used? "I'll stay," he replied.

That's right, Neymar has reportedly told Messi and Suarez he is staying this summer, contradicting the Guardian's claim that he wants to leave.

Whether or not Messi and Suarez's desperate plea really convinced Neymar of staying remains to be seen, but if he does leave, Barcelona already have a replacement in mind.

Paulo Dybala, currently at Juventus, is widely regarded as the natural heir to Messi's thrown in Catalonia and so could finally complete a move this summer.
