The NBA world was turned upside down yesterday following reports that Kyrie Irving requested a trade away from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since LeBron James's return to Ohio in 2014 the Cavs have been to three consecutive finals and won their first ever championship in 2016, however, their All-Star point guard's itchy feet appear to be spelling the beginning of the end for their 'big three.'It was commonly believed that Kevin Love would be the first of the Cavs' big stars to leave the organisation if any were to be moved on, however, with rumours circulating on the future of LeBron in 12 months, Irving has taken a huge leap to take control of his own career. Reports have suggested the Australian-born Olympic gold medalist told Cleveland's front office that he would prefer a move to either the San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves or New York Knicks as he wants to become the first option. After the news broke, the eyes of the social media world switched to the Cavs' other All-Stars; Love and James. LeBron posted a supposedly cryptic video of himself listening to rapper Meek Mill's new album, while Love remained relatively quiet, except for one tweet. @InsideHoops tweeted the former Timberwolves star 'Hi @KevinLove, how are things,' to which the power forward responded: 'Life is amazing. No complaints. Things are a little peculiar. But no complaints. Now go kick some rocks 🙌🏼 .'

IMPACT

Despite boasting three All-Stars, the Cavaliers have been wholly dependent on LeBron since he returned from Miami. It has often been a concern for those involved with the organisation to see that the team has gone 4-21 without LeBron in the last three seasons.

Irving has been with the Cavs since he was drafted number one in 2011 but is yet to prove he has the ability to lead a team to success. He was part of a Cleveland roster in turmoil until LeBron went home and has hardly excelled in games the King has sat out.

Whatever happens in the future, Kyrie's decision is sure to send shockwaves through the league. Another superstar could leave the East, the door may have been left slightly ajar for the likes of Boston and Washington, and this trade demand will certainly have an impact on LeBron's decision next summer.

Irving is a scoring machine, but how will he work in a system without one of the greatest players of all time? Well, we could be about to find out.
