Although there were plenty of questions when the super fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and the UFC’s Conor McGregor was made official, there’s no denying that their antics during the entertaining four-city world tour showed just why so many fans are invested in this fight.Granted, the Notorious might not stand a chance because of his lack of boxing experience and diving in at the elite level is probably a step too far – even for him.

SUPER FIGHT

The prospect of seeing a potential shock, though, is something that interests many as McGregor has been doubted from day one and like all of those before him, he does stand a chance of upsetting the 49-0 American and denting his impeccable record.

However, one of the main reasons why people aren’t as excited for this is because of the reputation Money now has; with many claiming he runs away too much in his fights and even UFC president Dana White has claimed that it’s a boring fighting style to watch.

Considering the UFC lightweight champion possesses a dangerous left hand, speed and brilliant accuracy, it’s thought that Mayweather will turn to his negative tactics in order to stretch his record to 50-0 with ease.

However, based on his most recent comments on the fight, we might actually be in for some quality entertainment.

There won’t be any moving around or running away, as Mayweather plans to stand toe to toe with his Irish rival as he claims his footwork isn’t as good as it used to be in his prime and is expecting fireworks on fight night in Las Vegas.

FIREWORKS

According to Boxing Scene, he said: ““He wants to win bad. He really wants to win bad, extremely bad. With other fighters, it plays out two ways when you’re facing Floyd Mayweather. You’ve got some guys that play it safe. You’ve got some guys like Maidana that go straight for the kill.

“He’s going to come out and go for the kill like Mayweather-Maidana I. He’s going to come out and go for the kill. He’s a heavy hitter, so I’ve got to be cautious.

"Remember, I’m older, so I can’t move like I used to move, so it’s basically going to be a toe-to-toe battle.

“It’s going to be exciting. He’s going to come fight. He’s going to come out. He’s upset. I’ve seen it before. When these fighters get upset with me, they come out like they’re going to try and kill me. My job is to do what I do, just keep my composure. He does have a chance.

“Every time two warriors go out there and compete, anything can happen. We just saw a week ago, two weeks ago, a guy who started boxing at 18, a teacher, beat one of the best fighters of all time, which was Manny Pacquiao, so anything can happen in a combat sport.”

Mayweather might be remaining cautious right now, and fans will be hoping he lives up to that promise and stands toe to toe with the younger star.
