D-Generation X was one of the most beloved, albeit controversial, stables in the history of professional wrestling.

The stable consisted of the likes of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, X-Pac, Chyna, and even Stephanie McMahon for a brief period of time. DX stirred up all kinds of trouble for "The Chairman Of The Board" on a weekly basis, crashing weddings, interfering in matches, and just flat out making the boss' life a living hell.

The reign of DX on top was one of the most awesome times to be a wrestling fan and they played an integral part in winning the Monday Night Wars. Although DX was, and remains to this day, a massive fan favorite that doesn't mean they didn't face a bit of controversy along the way.

During the early days of The Monday Night Wars, DX feuded with another stable, The Nation Of Domination. This group consisted of the likes of The Rock, Kama Mustafa (The Godfather), Faarooq, Mark Henry, and D'Lo Brown. Obviously, this group was a stable full of African American males who resembled that of The Nation Of Islam.

On one episode of Monday Night RAW, DX was made to spoof The Nation Of Domination by dressing as them and coming out to cut promos while mimicking their usual catchphrases. DX took things a step further, however, as the members actually painted their skin dark in order to match The Nation Of Domination's black skin.

This was very poorly received by some fans, however, at the same time many understood it was purely for the sake of comedy. Years later on an episode of Table For 3 on the WWE Network, Mark Henry, The Godfather, and Faarooq revealed they had absolutely no problem with the segment and gave their blessings to DX before they did it.

Former DX member Billy Gunn recently did an interview with Sports Illustrated to shed some light on the controversial gimmick, and it's the funniest thing DX ever did (quotes via Wrestling Inc.):

"How can you forget it? It's the funniest thing we ever did. DX did a lot of crazy stuff, and a lot of stuff off-script, but that was awesome.

"Most people remember me and Brian [Road Dogg] doing the dumpster match, as well as the parody against Nation of Domination. We were having some fun, everyone took it like that, and it was one of the funniest things we ever did."
