Pre-season is a very useful time for teams and their managers.
Europe's elite clubs can use the transfer window to improve their squads and some have done just that.
Manchester United have made the biggest deal so far this summer, signing Romelu Lukaku from Everton for £75 million.
Arsenal made a statement signing of their own, landing Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for a club record fee of over £52 million.
The build up to the Premier League season, which begins in August, is not just useful for off the pitch deals.
Players also have the chance to impress on it, as teams play a number of friendlies around the world.
Earlier this weekend, Chelsea beat Arsenal 3-0 in China, while Tottenham beat Paris Saint-Germain 4-2 in the United States.
Jose Mourinho's United are the next side in action, taking on Champions League holders Real Madrid in California on Sunday night.
The English club have taken a strong squad on tour across the Atlantic and have already won games against LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake and rivals Manchester City.
Of course, it's only pre-season so fans of the Red Devils shouldn't get carried away. Friendly matches can often be misleading.
How United perform from next month onwards is far more important. They'll need to make a strong start in the Premier League, as well in the Champions League group stage.
But they'll have to do it without a number of key men, as Mourinho has confirmed three players will miss the start of the season.
Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Marcos Rojo will all be unavailable through injury at the beginning of the campaign.
Strangely, all three are currently on tour with their team in the US, but won't be featuring in any games. They're continuing their rehabilitation outside of England.
Mourinho will be hoping the trio will be fit for the second half of the season, as United's run in will certainly get tougher.
"Luke Shaw is the first one to recover, Marcos will be last and Ash will be in between," he said, as per Goal. "Luke is September, Young is October and Rojo is December, or maybe January."
Fans will want to see United compete in the latter rounds of the Champions League, as well as challenging at the top of the Premier League in 2018.
To do that, they'll need a squad with enough depth to deal with any problems that arise and having Rojo, Shaw and Young fit will take the pressure off.
