Battleground got off to a very interesting start on Sunday night as two of the top tag teams within WWE went head to head for the Smackdown Live Tag Team Championships. The New Day challenged the Usos in a rematch from last month's money in the Bank PPV in which the Usos retained their titles against Smackdown's newest group.

A second chance at glory

The match at Money in the Bank ended controversially as the Usos literally took the belts and left the ringside area - taking a defeat via count-out with them.

That wasn't the case at Battleground however as the two competed in an instant classic which had the fans chanting "This is Awesome!"

The New Day would finally get their hands on the titles though after the duo of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods would simply outlast the Samoan twins.

The match turned on an interesting exchange outside the ring where Kofi Kingston would try a trust fall onto his opponents - only to be caught and slammed down to the floor.

Woods would then meet a similar fate as he left laying outside the ring at the hands of his opponents.

The Usos would then choose the legal man in Woods to try and break down for the win - with Kingston taking several minutes to recover.

Woods would absorb all of the punishment and eventually make the tag to Kingston once he had recovered enough to return to the apron.

The two would then trade near falls with the Usos until they finally found a way to beat the Champions with Woods pushing Jey Uso off of the top rope before delivering an elbow drop to Jimmy.

The celebrations would start the second the bell rang for the new Smackdown Live Tag Team Champions.

one more time?

The New Day winning the championship on Sunday night almost guarantees that the two teams will meet again soon.

With Summer Slam fast approaching next month, a clash between the two could take place at the biggest party of the summer.

If the Usos and New Day do climb into the ring one more time at Summer Slam, they have the potential to steal the show with another classic encounter.
