Battleground 2017 will go down as a memorable event as several top matches took place across the card which kept the fans guessing. The show opened with a bang as the New Day captured the Smackdown Live Tag Team Championships by defeating the Usos.

Questionable booking

One match that certainly left the fans in attendance unhappy however was the clash between Baron Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura.

The feud between the Lone Wolf and the Artist hasn't quite set Smackdown alight and their match at Battleground was a lot tamer than the one that preceded it.

The match was much slower and much more physical than the tag team match and Corbin earned a lot of momentum as a heel due to it's finish.

Nakamura would win the match via disqualification after Corbin would deliver a low blow to the former NXT Champion.

Nakamura had intended on delivering the kinshasa to Corbin but when the Lone Wolf wasn't in the right position, Nakamura would attempt an exploder suplex but Corbin would swing his leg back and force the referee to disqualify him.

It left the fans in the Wells Fargo Centre booing the conclusion of the match and even fans at home weren't best pleased.

Fans may not have agreed with it's conclusion and their displeasure was compounded when Corbin would then attack Nakamura with the Money in the Bank briefcase after the match.

The match may not have been the explosive encounter fans wanted, but it more than emphasised just how intense the rivalry between the two has gotten.

Fans divided

While everyone in attendance was booing the climax of the match and what followed it, some fans appreciated the style of the encounter.

With Summer Slam less than one month away, their clash at Battleground could lead to another match between the two at the biggest party of the summer.

A night of disappointment

When it came to the biggest names on Smackdown Live, fans would see their face superstars lose more than they would win at Battleground.

AJ Styles, Charlotte and Nakamura would all suffer defeats in big matches throughout the night leaving the fans' heroes somewhat demoralised.
