In true Owens fashion though, it didn't come without it's fair share of controversy as the new champion would at one point put the referee out of commission.
The two were deep in the heat of battle and Styles was beginning to build momentum when he decided to set Owens up for the Styles clash.
KO would have a fairly unusual counter for the move though.
Launching Styles into the referee is a very unique way to counter the Phenomenal One's signature move and it would ultimately be the change that cost Styles the match.
Styles would be concerned with the health of the official and would go to check on him after their mid air collision.
The match would come to an end though when Styles applied the calf crusher to Owens and with the referee down, many fans expected to see him tap out away from the referee's view.
That wasn't the case though as Owens would turn the hold around on Styles who was forced to improvise and apply a crossface instead to try and defeat Owens.
That didn't work either as the now 3-time champion turned Styles over into a pinning predicament and was able to keep his shoulders down for the three count.
Back where it belongs?
The US Championship is back around the waist of Kevin Owens and he once again takes his place as the self proclaimed Face of America.
With Styles having lost his belt however, the two now seem destined to clash once again in his mandatory rematch.
With Summer Slam four weeks away, Owens could meet Styles once again at the biggest party of the summer.
Heading towards Summer Slam, there could be several suitors to challenge Owens for the title with Styles surely being the top candidate.
The much awaited return of Chris Jericho - who is also owed a rematch could also factor into the Summer Slam build up if he returns in time.
