Manchester United and Real Madrid are two of the greatest and most successful football clubs on the planet, both steeped in history and tradition.On Sunday night they went head-to-head at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. This offered a rare chance for football fans Stateside to catch a glimpse of their heroes.Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t playing, which was a shame for those who’d paid good money to be inside the stadium, but the likes of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford still featured.But before the match kicked off, everybody - especially those watching the action unfold at home and reacting on Twitter - were left with their heads in their hands.Sunday July 23 was the day modern football well and truly peaked.
