Young Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira showed his worth to Jose Mourinho with an excellent display in Sunday night's penalty shoot-out victory over Real Madrid.The 21-year-old joined Manchester United from PSV Eindhoven in 2011 and received rave reviews during a season long loan spell at Granada.Pereira impressed as a deep-lying playmaker against LA Galaxy and last night proved that he can hold his own against the very best players in the world.Mourinho's side, who are due to face Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup next month, won on penalties following a 1-1 draw in Santa Clara.Jesse Lingard opened the scoring after Anthony Martial bamboozled three defenders with his electric footwork. Casemiro scored the equaliser from the penalty spot.Despite being subbed off at half time, Pereira was lauded by Manchester United fans on social media.

Pereira highlighted his incredible ball retention skills whilst under intense pressure from four Real Madrid players.

Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Lucas Vasquez and Marcelo honed in on the Belgian born midfielder but Pereira somehow managed to find a way out.

He definitely would've caught the eye of his manager last night.

Asked by Press Association Sport if he was thinking about another loan, Pereira replied: "No, now I am focused at United. I am here and I want to stay here and I believe I am going to stay.

"It is a very nice feeling [to be back], I am very happy. I am glad that I am here on the tour.

"I think I will have the chance to kick on and I want to kick on here.

"He [Mourinho] knows he is a good manager," he said. "He knows how to do things, he knows how to speak with players. he knows how to treat the team.

"He always gets the results and always win trophies. I think if you want to be the best manager in the world, you have to win trophies and that's what he does.

"I was very happy (last season), I watched every game. The last game I even came to watch, the last Premier League game.

"I was very excited and, yeah, of course it is nice when United is winning back things and trophies.

"Hopefully we can kick on and win more trophies."
