One man who believes he can benefit from Jose Mourinho’s apparent willingness to hand young players a chance at Manchester United is Timothy Fosu-Mensah.Fosu-Mensah made his debut under Louis van Gaal in 2016 and was limited to just four appearances in the Premier League last season. But the 19-year-old believes Marcus Rashford’s 53 appearances last term is evidence that youngsters will be given an opportunity under Mourinho."Marcus played the most games last season so I think what they say about him is not true. He gives youth a chance," Fosu-Mensah said, per Sky Sports."I think as a young player you have to grab the chance with both hands."The Dutchman certainly sent a message to Mourinho last night in Man United’s shoot-out win over Real Madrid in Santa Clara with a classy performance.

Fosu-Mensah played the second half at right-back, but many supporters want to see him given an opportunity in midfield.

And you can see why based on his challenge on none other than Toni Kroos.

Fosu-Mensah's challenge on Toni Kroos

Fosu-Mensah showcased a no-nonsense style to dispossess the German playmaker before moving the ball on.

Kroos thought he’d been fouled but the referee thought otherwise. Check it out below.

Here’s how Man United fans reacted.

Versatile

Fosu-Mensah, who has played in all four of Man United’s pre-season matches on their tour of the United States, figures to play an important role for the club in the coming years due to his versatility.

It doesn’t matter where Mourinho asks him to play; the former Ajax player will play anywhere.

"I like them all,” Fosu-Mensah said when asked about his favourite position.

“If the manager wants me to play centre-back I will play there. If he wants me to play defensive midfield I will play there. If he needs to play right-back I will play there.

"I can play them all so it is not a problem."

Move for Matic

If Mourinho believes Fosu-Mensah can do a job in midfield, then it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him pull the plug on a move for Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic.

The Serbian is nine years Fosu-Mensah’s senior and, according to the Telegraph, would cost Man United £50 million.

Tiemoue Bakayoko’s arrival at Chelsea appears to spell the end for Matic at Stamford Bridge and it's believed he is eager to reunite with Mourinho.

And the thought of trying to help Man United take the Premier League crown from the Blues must appeal to the midfielder.
