Despite making two very generous offers, Liverpool are still no closer to securing the signing of RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita. The 22-year-old Guinean has been pursued by Jurgen Klopp throughout the summer but the Bundesliga club have no intention of losing a key player.Keita looks destined to remain at Leipzig for at least one more season but his frustration at the situation was certainly evident in training today.Still hopeful of securing a move to Anfield, the £70m rated box-to-box midfielder followed a couple of Liverpool players on Instagram on Sunday night.Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk is also pushing for his club to accept Liverpool's offer, recently confirming his desire to leave to manager Mauricio Pellegrino. The 26-year-old Dutchman was today omitted from the Saints pre-season training camp squad in France.

Keita's revenge

Meanwhile, over in Germany, Keita produced a horrific challenge on Leipzig teammate Diego Demme in Monday morning's training.

Demme allegedly infuriated the Liverpool target minutes earlier before Keita took revenge with a horrendous challenge, as per BILD and Kicker.

What happened next

Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhüttl was furious and abandoned the training session after forcing Keita to apologise to his injured teammate.

We don't have the video of the tackle but the players were reportedly sent back to the hotel following Keita's rash behaviour, as can be seen in the clip below.

The highly rated midfielder is obviously frustrated with his club's firm stance and could be looking for novel ways to force his way out.

Liverpool fans were loving Keita's antics on Twitter.

The Leipzig owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, made his position very clear last week by confirming that a £66m bid had indeed been received.

“We don’t sell any of our players just to get money. Lately we got a €75m offer for Naby Keita. No way!

“He has a contract and he will fulfil it. To sell him would not only be a proof of distrust to our fans but also the wrong sign for our players like Timo Werner, who is in demand too.”

With Keita seemingly unwilling to accept his fate, this saga may drag on through August.
