Jurgen Klopp has sought to make RB Leipzig's Naby Keita his third summer signing for the best part of a month now, but his latest comments on the saga didn't make for good reading. In response to Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz claiming there's "no way" Keita will be sold, Klopp admitted he may have left it "a little bit too late"."Mr Mateschitz? What did he say? Lucky man, huh?" the German said last week. "They don't have to sell players. When I was at Dortmund we always had to sell players."Meanwhile, they don't have to sell players any more so, obviously, I'm always a little bit too late. What can I say? There's nothing to say about this."Klopp's surprise admission was then reinforced by a report by the Telegraph on Sunday which stated Liverpool will wait until next summer to make a move.Leipzig recently rejected a bid of £66 million for Keita, but the 22-year-old midfielder's release clause will reduce to £48 million in a year's time. But while waiting until the summer of 2018 would save Liverpool over £20 million, the fact remains they need to start signing more players.Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah have arrived for a combined £42 million but if the Reds are to challenge for the Premier League title next season, further reinforcements are needed. There could yet be hope of Keita joining for Liverpool fans, though.Social media activity is by no means a surefire way of predicting a player's future - just look at Alvaro Morata and Manchester United - but Keita has dropped a pretty big hint.Fans on Twitter have noticed the Guinean has followed not only Sadio Mane, but also Roberto Firmino, on Instagram in the past 24 hours (see below).

Football players follow each other on Twitter and Instagram all the time, of course, but given the circumstances, Keita following Mane and Firmino is pretty intriguing.

Liverpool fans certainly seem excited by Keita's social media activity, with some suggesting a move could still be on. Here's how Twitter reacted.

Liverpool have plenty of midfield options, including Emre Can, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum, but there's always room for improvement.

It's Keita's pace and dribbling ability that separates him from Liverpool's current crop of central players, though, suggesting he's exactly what they need in this window.
