Antonio Conte today confirmed Alvaro Morata will make his Chelsea debut against Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup on Wednesday - but only as a substitute.

Morata, having joined the Blues last Friday, has only completed a few training sessions with his new club and will need time to adapt.

"My plan is to give him the possibility to play part of the game, but not from the start because he only arrived [on Sunday] and started to work with us," Conte said, per ESPN.

"Morata is a young player who has a lot of experience in his career because he played with two big teams in Real Madrid and Juventus.

"He has also played a lot of games in the Champions League and won it last season. He can have a big impact in the Premier League.

"It's different if you compare it to leagues in other countries because it's very tough and physically it's strong, but Morata is ready to have a big impact."

Chelsea fans are buzzing to see Morata in action following his £58 million move from Real Madrid, but his confirmed involvement on Wednesday raises a big question: what shirt number will he wear?

There's been a lot of speculation about what number Conte will give Morata for the 2017/18 season, with the No.8, No.9, No.19, No.20 and No.25 jerseys all available.

Well, it's now been confirmed by Chelsea themselves on Instagram what number Morata has been given: the famous No.9 (see below).

Morata was always going to wear the No.9 shirt, in truth, having been brought in to become Chelsea's first-choice striker.

Concerns have been raised by fans about Morata wearing the 'cursed' No.9, given no player has successfully worn it since Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink, but the 24-year-old seems up to the challenge.
