It's no secret that Paul Pogba played a huge role in convincing Romelu Lukaku to join Manchester United this summer.

The pair are best friends and recently went on holiday together to Los Angeles, where they trained side by side and stayed in a luxurious villa.

Lukaku and Pogba are even neighbours in Manchester and so used to speak every day about how they were getting on at Everton and United respectively.

"Of course he is one of my best friends and he is my neighbour as well," he told MUTV earlier this month. "We are always together on a daily basis so he would explain to me how things were going.

"Last season when he signed for United, to have witnessed that, it really triggered something in my brain and I knew that if one day I had the chance to sign then I would not say no.

"You just know and realise how big the club is, and the hunger it has to win trophies."

Pogba sung United's praises whenever he spoke to Lukaku, giving the Belgian no choice but to join when the opportunity presented itself.

However, Lukaku has now revealed Pogba also used some cheeky tactics to convince him of swapping Goodison Park for Old Trafford.

The pair regularly went out for dinner together in the centre of Manchester last season and Pogba would always drive past the Theatre of Dreams on purpose to entice Lukaku.

And his plan worked. Driving past Old Trafford on a daily basis eventually opened Lukaku's eyes to where he could be playing.

"I spoke with Paul a lot, obviously," Lukaku told MUTV on Monday. "We spent our holiday together and he said: ‘What do you want to do?’

"I told him that I was thinking a lot about signing for United, something was telling me [to do it].

"I live near Manchester so, when I was coming to the city [centre], I would drive past Old Trafford and ask my mates what they thought.

"Me and Paul, we'd go to the city to have dinner and he'd drive past Old Trafford on purpose."

Hilarious, but genius. Pogba is fast becoming a fan favourite amongst United supporters and his cheeky plan to snare Lukaku will only help his cause.
