Chelsea couldn’t have asked for more from N’Golo Kante during the French midfielder’s debut campaign at Stamford Bridge. The £32 million they paid Leicester City a year ago now feels like a genuine bargain, particularly when you consider the extraordinary transfer fees being reported this summer.Frank Lampard hailed Kante as the ‘best central midfielder in the world’ towards the end of last season and very few people disagreed with the Chelsea legend at the time.Kante ended his first season at Chelsea with another Premier League winner’s medal and both the PFA’s Premier League Player of the Season and the FWA Footballer of the Year awards. He also picked up Chelsea’s Players’ Player of the Year accolade to complete an unbelievable first season in west London.Kante, like the rest of his teammates, in now in the process of gaining some much-needed match fitness ahead of what promises to be his most gruelling season yet. He’s never played Champions League football before, but that will change this season.Oh, and he’ll also be competing at his first World Cup finals in Russia next summer, so he’ll need to make sure he saves some energy in that seemingly indefatigable tank of his.

Chelsea fan's tweet about Kante is going viral

As we reported on Tuesday, Kante was heavily criticised on social media following an uncharacteristically poor display in Chelsea’s 3-2 defeat against Bayern Munich.

But there’s one tweet from a Chelsea fan that we initially missed which is in the process of going viral.

Steven - @ManLikeAlvaro - tweeted midway through the match: “Unfollow me do whatever the f**k you want, Kante always gets destroyed when we play against a quality midfield.”

Seems pretty harsh.

Kante is no flat-track bully, having starred against most of the Premier League's top clubs over the past two seasons.

Moreover, this was a pre-season friendly not a Champions League final. Feels like a massive overreaction.

Some people agree with the tweet

However, there are some people who agree with the tweet. It seems @ManLikeAlvaro is not the only individual to hold this opinion about Kante.

Others defended Kante...

Will this be the season N’Golo Kante is exposed - or he is truly world class? Have your say by leaving a comment below.
