Jurgen Klopp has not been shy about the business he wishes to carry out this summer in order to get Liverpool to the next level.
Furthermore, he has also repeatedly stated that he is willing to spend big in order to land his targets, and in the case of the two that still elude him, that's exactly what he will have to do.
The Reds have secured Mohamed Salah from Roma already this summer in a near £35 million deal and his pace in the frontline opposite Sadio Mane is sure to frighten defences everywhere.
They have also managed to secure attacking full-back Andrew Robertson from relegated Hull City which has freed up James Milner to play in more natural roles.
However, most Liverpool fans believe they need a centre-half and a centre-midfielder to truly compete for the Premier League title and that's where Virgil Van Dijk and Naby Keita come in.
While their pursuit of Van Dijk is on hold after Southampton reported them to the Premier League for 'tapping up' the Dutch international, many believe he will still end up at Anfield by the end of the transfer window because of his desire to play there.
Similar thoughts are attributed to Keita's situation, but his club has maintained throughout that the 22-year-old Guinean midfielder will not be sold - even with Liverpool bidding in the region of £70 million.
Emil Forsberg has been another man targeted by top European clubs and RB Leipzig sporting director Ralph Rangnick has a theory behind their desires to move elsewhere.
Rangnick believes the pair are being poorly advised on their futures.
"There should be someone who points them into the right direction," he said at a coaching convention in Bochum, via Goal.
"The boys themselves are not the problem here. It is their surroundings. A whole village in Guinea or somebody from their entourage tells the players why they must do something right away. I can't blame the players.
"I expect them to play for us next season. Both are extraordinary players who make the difference for our team."
Has someone gotten in Keita's ear? Or, perhaps the midfield dynamo just wants to play in the Premier League with a storied club like Liverpool? Time will tell.
