AC Milan have been making plenty of noise this summer as the red half of the San Siro attempts to return to their former glory by making a big splash in transfer market. With signings like Hakan Calhanoglu, Ricardo Rodriguez, Frank Kessie, Lucas Biglia, Leanardo Bonnuci, Andre Silva and, erm, Fabio Borini, the Rossoneri have made a massive statement this summer. While the side may take some time to gel, there is no denying that the squad that finished sixth in Serie A last season has undertaken a much-needed facelift. But how would they fare playing together in preseason? Well, demolishing the German champions Bayern Munich 4-0 certainly isn't bad.Goals from Calhanoglu and Kessie on top of a brace from wonderkid Patrick Cutrone put a Bayern side to the sword that featured the likes of Mats Hummels, David Alaba, Franck Ribery, Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman and Robert Lewandowski.Milan fans could perhaps be forgiven for getting a little ahead of themselves on social media after the victory and sensing the good times that lie ahead. After all, two new signings scored, Rodriguez set up one of Cutrone's goals and in Cutrone - a player who scored a club record 110 goals at youth level - they look like they have another wonderkid to go alongside Gianluigi Donnarumma, who opted to stay at the club after plenty of interest this summer. However, Bayern's German centre-back Hummels was not getting carried away when a Milan asked him how the 4-0 humbling felt.

Ouch! A timely reminder from the World Cup winner that Milan have a long way to go before they can truly challenge teams like Bayern.

Still, the strides being made by Milan are certainly opening a lot of eyes around Europe and if reports on Wednesday are to be believed, super agent Jorge Mendes is shopping three of his clients to AC; Diego Costa, Renato Sanches and Radamal Falcao.

If Milan could sign even one of those players they would make some serious strides, but to add two or even all of them would surely spark a dramatic turnaround in their fortunes.

Still, they'll be no Champions League football for them next season, as Hummels keenly pointed out!
