When cameras captured Romelu Lukaku speaking to Gareth Bale after Sunday night's friendly between Manchester United and Real Madrid, rumours immediately began to swirl.'What were they talking about? Was Lukaku asking Bale about potentially joining United, too?' were the kinds of questions being asked. As it turns out, the pair simply spoke about the upcoming season, with Bale wishing Lukaku good luck ahead his debut campaign at Old Trafford."I just wished him good luck for the season," the Welshman told Sky Sports. "He has just signed for them and I hope he has a great season."I am sure he knows all about the spotlight. He has been playing for long enough. He has done very well in the Premier League and I am sure he will do great for them."A completely innocent and friendly conversation, then, but that didn't prevent speculation of United signing Bale from cropping up again.Jose Mourinho is a long-term admirer of the Wales winger and was asked in a recent press conference to confirm his interest this summer. But in typical Mourinho fashion, he refused to confirm or deny the rumours and insisted he would not speak about signing a player currently attached to a club."I'm happy with my squad but I'd like to have two more players," he replied. "A midfielder, who would give me more options and more balance to the team."The other one is an attacking player - especially one which can play on the wings - which would also give me more attacking options."But I never speak about players who belong to other teams. I don't like it when other managers come along and say they like one of my players - that's not the correct thing to do."Mourinho would no doubt make a move for Bale if Zinedine Zidane ever made him available, but it would appear Real fans are keen for their manager to do exactly that.Spanish newspaper AS asked their readers - who are predominantly Real supporters - earlier this week to vote whether or not they would sell Bale to United this summer.

And quite unexpectedly, 72% of the 40,000 who voted said 'yes', while the remaining 28% said they wanted Bale to stay at the Bernabeu.

That's right, almost three quarters of Real fans would like Bale to join Mourinho at the Theatre of Dreams, which would most likely see Kylain Mbappe finally arrive.

Los Blancos have reportedly agreed a £160 million fee with Monaco for the 18-year-old, but a move may only be possible if Bale is moved on.
