Tickets for Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor's fight are being resold for as much as £44,500 on third-party websites, according to Sky Sports

The first batch of tickets were quickly sold out following the opening of ticket sales on Monday at 6pm UK time.

While the highest ticket price for a premium front row seat retailed at £7,706 on Ticketmaster, with the cheapest being £385, costs were going through the roof on resale websites such as Viagogo, Stubhub, and Vivid Seats.

Prices on Viagogo range from £2,150 to £44,500, whereas Stubhub's cheapest ticket is £1,498 with the most expensive being £34,459.

Vivid Seats are selling their tickets from £1,413 to £18,273.

The two fighters will compete in a multi-million dollar contest on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with both set to rack in a mammoth sum of money.

Tickets were only made available to those who had signed up to Ticketmaster's 'verified fans' scheme, and only two tickets could be purchased at a time by one buyer in an attempt to prevent tickets being bought in bulk for the purpose of resale.

However, codes for the right to access tickets were being sold £153 on eBay prior to the sale.

Sources from Ticketmaster declined to confirm exactly how many tickets would be sold on its platform on Monday, but any remaining tickets are expected to be made available to the general public for purchase.

The fight is set to be an intriguing one for several reasons.

Mayweather is going to come out of retirement to compete, with his last fight being two years ago, while McGregor will compete in his first ever boxing match.

In November, the Irishman became the first dual-weight UFC champion and currently holds the UFC lightweight world title.

Mayweather, 40, heads into the contest with a 49-0 record in the sport and is the overwhelming favorite to win the match.

However, McGregor has never been knocked out with his only losses in UFC coming from submissions.
