When Jose Mourinho admitted he expected Manchester United to have completed more signings by the time of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, one imagines Ivan Perisic was one of the players he thought would’ve already signed. The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the Croatian winger but Inter Milan have proved difficult negotiators. There’s still more than one month left for Man United to get a deal done but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Mourinho ended his interest in the 28-year-old and pursued an alternative target.Inter boss Luciano Spalletti insists the Serie A club could sell if they received a “very difficult offer to reject”."He's an important player in the team and we're counting on him to start the new season," the ex-Roma boss said, per BBC Sport."Sure, there were rumours, but the status quo is that we want to keep Perisic.

"Having said that, if someone comes in with a very difficult offer to reject, then we'll consider that.

"But, of course, we'll need to find a valid alternative for Perisic as well."

Perisic's class assist v Bayern

Perisic is currently in Asia where Inter are taking on Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup.

And he showed just why Mourinho is interested in him with a wonderful assist to double Inter’s lead.

Perisic skipped past Rafinha before whipping in a beautiful cross that Eder headed home for his second goal of the game.

Man United fans react

Here’s how Man United fans reacted on Twitter.

While Spalletti is ready to admit Perisic could leave, Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio isn’t willing to entertain the idea of his departure.

"It's not happening," he told Sky Sport Italia, per Goal. "Perisic is training with us and so far we have not taken into consideration anything that Manchester United have offered us."

Lingard

The delay in signing Perisic has given Jesse Lingard the chance to impress in pre-season and it's an opportunity that he took, becoming the only player to start all five of Man United's matches on their US tour.

The winger was forced off in the 1-0 defeat to Barcelona but Mourinho insisted he was just suffering from muscle fatigue, per the Manchester Evening News.
