Manchester City responded to their friendly defeat to Manchester United with a 4-1 win over Real Madrid in the early hours of Thursday morning.Goals from Nicolas Otamendi, Raheem Sterling, John Stones and Brahim Diaz sealed the win for Pep Guardiola’s side, who faced a Real team that was without star talisman Cristiano Ronaldo.Guardiola praised the spirit of his players after the win in Los Angeles.“The result is not so important but the way we fought for each other, that is,” he said, per City’s website.“It is the pre-season, just like the last game against United where we lost but did good things.“If we play in this intensity, that is our dream to be more stable and solid and of course Kyle Walker and Danilo and also [Benjamin] Mendy will help us increase our intensity
“As I say, the result is not so important, but the way we fought for each other to play, that’s the most important thing.
“We need to build something, it’s just pre-season a friendly game.”
An agreement was made over Mbappe
Both clubs had more on their minds than just the friendly. According to reports from Spain, Man City and Real Madrid chiefs made an agreement about AS Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe.
The 18-year-old is on the radar of Europe’s biggest clubs following his breakout season at the Stade Louis II, with Monaco putting a €180 million price tag on his head.
But Cadena SER are reporting that both Man City and Los Blancos agreed not to pay the €180m fee this summer as both consider it exorbitant.
Monaco have already sold Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Mendy this summer, so it’s no surprise that they are reluctant to sell Mbappe too.
And should the France international have another good season, his price tag could well reach the €200m mark.
Pep was pleased with Danilo
It’s the second agreement Man City and Real have reached this month following Danilo’s move from the Bernabeu to the Etihad Stadium.
And Guardiola was pleased with the Brazilian’s performance against his old club.
The former Barcelona coach added: “We say how good Danilo can play, how he and Kyle organised our back four, helped communicate and so on – and then we have Yaya - he is a huge personality and loves to play football - I love training with guys who love football.”
