The defining memory of Joe Hart's time at Manchester City will always be his reaction to their title win in 2012.

The goalkeeper went on an incredible run, arms outstretched as Martin Tyler struggled to contain himself at the Sky Blues beating Manchester United to the Premier League.

"Manchester City are still alive here, Balotelli, Agueroooo! I swear you'll never see anything like this ever again!"

That was the first of two titles the England international won at City, and the fans will always have a soft spot for him.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Pep Guardiola. The Catalan immediately sidelined the 30-year-old following his arrival at the Etihad last summer.

There was little real justification for farming him out to Torino, especially in the light of Claudio Bravo's struggles.

However, Guardiola isn't going to back down, so Hart has once again been shipped out, this time to West Ham on a season-long loan.

He'll be vying with Adrian for the number one spot, even if co-owner David Sullivan has made it clear who he thinks is the better stopper.

Regardless, Hart won't be wearing the number one shirt, instead opting for the number 25.

That's not out of respect to Adrian, however, as he has revealed exactly why he made the unusual decision.

Hart snubs number 1

“The No.25 shirt will always be special to me as I wore it on my Premier League debut for Manchester City in 2006, when I got into the Team of the Season with Birmingham in 2010 and when we won the title at City in 2012," he said, per the Mirror.

“Having enjoyed so many fantastic moments with that number on my back, I thought why not go back to 25 and see what happens!

“I’ve asked the kit man to design me some special short-sleeved shirts, which he has had made, so I’m really looking forward to pulling on my West Ham United jersey for the first time.”

Lots of players have their superstitions and they surely can't make that much difference. Hart will be confident, though, as Slaven Bilic's business in the transfer window means he'll be playing behind a very decent team next season.

Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic, and Javier Hernandez are the other new additions as the Hammers look to improve upon last term's underwhelming campaign.
