ss Liverpool fans into a state of rage after he offered his opinion on Barcelona's interest in Philippe Coutinho. The 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder has become Barcelona's number one target but Jurgen Klopp insists that Liverpool are not a selling club.“Yes, [he’s not for sale]," Klopp told reporters last week. "But that’s not since this morning or yesterday, I’m not sure if it was different at any time. So, yes.“But a very important message, maybe: we are not a selling club."Despite that, there are some Liverpool fans out there who believe that £80m would be a good deal for the magical midfielder - and Murphy is one of them.Capped nine times by England, Murphy retired in 2013 and has since taken up punditry roles with the BBC and talkSPORT.The former central midfielder spent seven years at Anfield, racking up 249 appearances and 44 goals for the club.Murphy was on talkSPORT on Thursday and infuriated Liverpool fans with his rather silly opinion on Coutinho. He said: “There comes a point where if a player expresses a desire to go, there is sense in getting as much money as you can for him.“If they’re talking about £199m for Neymar, you can’t put Coutinho in Neymar’s league at the moment.“He’s not worth £150m, could they get £100m for him? Maybe.“If Barca are prepared to pay over £80m for Coutinho, I think that’s good business."The Reds are reportedly offering upwards of £70m for a 22-year-old midfielder, Naby Keita, who has just one year's experience of top flight football in a major European league. It's frankly insane that Murphy thinks Coutinho - a proven Premier League star who is so key to Klopp's plans - is only worth £80m in this market. He's irreplaceable. Liverpool fans vented at Murphy on social media.
The Reds finished their pre-season tour of Asia earlier this week but are due to play a trio of matches in Germany next week.
On Saturday, Klopp's men will play a special game against Hertha at Berlin's Olympiastadion to mark both clubs' 125th anniversaries before taking part in the Audi Cup alongside Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Napoli.
