If Real Madrid’s BBC is to be split up, it would seem that Gareth Bale would be the one to break up the trio. The Welshman has been heavily linked with a move from the Bernabeu, with frequent injuries affecting his ability to make an impact in recent seasons. When he’s been on the pitch, Bale has been a star. But he made just 17 starts in the league last season owing to ankle, hip and calf problems.Man United boss Jose Mourinho recently admitted signing Bale would be “mission impossible” - not because the Red Devils aren’t interested but because he’s never got the sense that the 28-year-old wants to leave.Mourinho said, per the Telegraph: “You have contacts, you have feelings, you understand things, I think it was clear that Bale likes Madrid, the challenge, the situation, he’s in a club in a very good situation now, I never felt a desire from him to leave, so why lose time and energy on that? No.” Mourinho’s right, Bale never has shown any indication that he wants to leave Spain. With competition hotting up at the Bernabeu, it’s vitally important that he makes the most of the pre-season.The former Tottenham man started in the penalty shootout defeat to Man United on Sunday night and made an immediate impact in last night’s defeat to Manchester City.

Watch: Bale skipped past Kompany

Bale picked up the ball in just the second minute of the match and proceeded to skip past Vincent Kompany as if he were a child, not a two-time Premier League winner.

Watch the video below.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Bale’s impressive move.

That was as good as it got for Bale, though. He failed to take over the game as Zinedine Zidane would have liked him to in Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence and was replaced on the hour mark.

Bale isn’t slipping from the picture in Spain but with the emergence of Marco Asensio and Isco’s return to form towards the end of the campaign, he’s no guarantee to start for the Champions League winners when the competitive action gets underway.

It would appear that he’s lost the support of the Real fans, too. Spanish newspaper AS ran a poll asking their readers to vote on whether they want Bale to stay or not.

Of the 40,000 supporters who voted, 72 per cent said they’d like to see the Wales international sold this summer.

So it’s not just Zidane who Bale needs to impress, but the fans, too.
