It appears that Shane McMahon will be wrestling at SummerSlam.

The SmackDown Live Commissioner has been known to get inside the squared circle and have some classic match. At WrestleMania 32, he had a great match with The Undertaker inside of the Hell in a Cell structure, which saw him take a dive off the cell through an announce table.

He would then compete in a traditional Survivor Series Tag Team match at the 2016 Survivor Series (PPV) pay-per-view event last November. His latest match came against AJ Styles in the opening match on the main card of WrestleMania 33 in April.

As seen on this past week’s episode of SmackDown, WWE did a backstage segment with McMahon and former WWE United States Champion Kevin Owens. The segment saw Owens be upset with McMahon booking him in a Triple Threat match against Chris Jericho and AJ Styles for later in the show.

They teased a confrontation, which has led to speculation that a match between them may happen at SummerSlam.

According to Cageside Seats, WWE is considering going with the match at SummerSlam. McMahon hasn’t beaten anyone in a one on one match since returning to WWE last year. Owens is scheduled to face Styles for the US Title next week on SmackDown Live.

If Owens ends up losing that match then it’s likely he will wrestle McMahon at the upcoming event. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. This could be a good match with lots of spots that would pump up the crowd and make the rest of the show better.

Summerslam is scheduled to take place on August 20th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. Both Raw and SmackDown rosters will be featured on the card. This event will have a four-hour main card with a two-hour pre-show.

The promotion has already announced three matches for the event. We already know the main event will see Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe in a Fatal 4-Way match, Naomi vs. Natalya for the SmackDown Women’s Championship and Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley for the Raw Women’s Championship Match.
