News has surfaced about Chris Jericho’s schedule with WWE.

WWE fans were caught off guard during this week’s episode of SmackDown Live on the USA Network when Kevin Owens opened the show with an in-ring promo segment.

As seen on the show. AJ Styles walked out to the ring to confront him. Owens, who had beaten Styles for the United States Championship at Sunday’s Battleground PPV (pay-per-view) event, denied Styles his request for a rematch.

This led to the return of Chris Jericho, who had not appeared on WWE TV since he was written out of storylines when he was attacked by Owens on SmackDown Live in May. Both Styles and Jericho wanted a title match that night.

WWE announced that Owens would defend the US Title against both Jericho and Styles on the show in a Triple Threat Match. This would serve as the main event.

As seen in the match, Styles ended up winning the match and the championship, which marked the second time that he has held the US Title. After the match, Owens demanded that he get his rematch against Styles for the title on next week’s episode of SmackDown Live.

This was a great surprise for WWE fans who tuned into the show. Between May and now, he did work the WWE live event in Singapore at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and Tokyo, Japan at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in June. He competed against NXT Superstar Hideo Itami in single matches.

It should be noted that Jericho is being advertised for the upcoming WWE Australia tour in September. The tour will take place on September 14th in Melbourne at the Rod Laver Arena, September 15th at the Quidos Bank Arena in Sydney, and Brisbane at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

His recent surprise appearance has led to the questions of if he will remain on television. On Thursday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer answered the questions. Here is what he had to say (transcript courtesy of Wrestling Rumors):

“Jericho’s return came out of nowhere,” Meltzer said. “I’m not sure what his schedule is right now. I mean, he’s not advertised or listed for any shows going forward, but the reaction was certainly like he’s back.

“I know he’s still got concert stuff coming up, but aside from that, I don’t know if he’s got anything until September, and I think it’s like maybe one show. I know he’s got something in Sacramento in October, and then he’s got a European tour like October 27 to November 18. So, there is concert stuff there, so I wasn’t really expecting him back until December or January.”
