French midfielder Paul Pogba produced an excellent performance on Wednesday night as Manchester United were beaten 1-0 by Barcelona in the United States.

It was Jose Mourinho's first defeat of pre-season but the Portuguese coach was nonetheless very impressed with the 24-year-old's display.

“Lionel) Messi and Neymar, there is only one; there is not two. (Luis) Suarez, (Andres) Iniesta, (Gerard) Pique, (Cristiano) Ronaldo, (Gareth) Bale, (Luka) Modric, Toni Kroos; there is only one so they can only play for one club, not for two clubs,” said Mourinho.

“We can't have them, they belong to the clubs. But I have to say that Paul Pogba showed the level... he showed he belongs to that level.”

The former Juventus midfielder failed to set the world alight in his first season back in the Premier League but looks very sharp ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

Utilising his incredible power and speed, Manchester United fans really enjoyed his barnstorming 60 yard run against Barcelona.

Users on social media watched on with interest when Pogba spent plenty of time with Romelu Lukaku before the Belgian striker made his £75m move to Old Trafford.

He's also close friends with compatriot Antoine Griezmann and has earned himself a bit of a reputation as an "agent" for Mourinho at United.

Pogba is a keen user of social media and, on Thursday night, commented on Sporf's "caption this" Instagram post involving himself, Leo Messi and Neymar Jr.

Photographers took some great photos when the trio met up for a quick chat after Wednesday night's friendly match in Washington D.C.

Agent P has his work cut out if he intends to bring either of these two superstars to Manchester.

Neymar's future remains unclear following the lucrative offer made by French giants PSG.

The 25-year-old Brazilian has thrived at Barcelona since joining in 2013 but perhaps finds himself in Messi's shadow at the Camp Nou.

His €222m (£198) release clause is more than double what United paid for Pogba - the current most expensive footballer on the planet.

Few eyebrows would be raised at the incredible sum of money in a market where Kyle Walker is sold for £50m.

However, Barcelona fans - and fans of glorious attacking football - would be devestated to see the lethal MSN trio - Messi, Suarez, Neymar - broken up.
