Jose Mourinho recently admitted that any attempt to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid would be “mission impossible”.Manchester United have been heavily linked with the Welshman for the past two seasons but the Portuguese believes Bale has no interest in returning to the Premier League.“It’s the same [as Ronaldo],” Mourinho said, per the Telegraph. “You have contacts, you have feelings, you understand things, I think it was clear that Bale likes Madrid, the challenge, the situation, he’s in a club in a very good situation now, I never felt a desire from him to leave, so why lose time and energy on that? No.”  Persistent injuries have troubled Bale in recent seasons and he’s in a serious competition with Isco and Marco Asensio to start alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the upcoming season. And while Mourinho may get the sense that the 28-year-old doesn’t want to leave, that doesn’t necessarily guarantee his future lies at the Bernabeu.Los Blancos are desperate to sign Kylian Mbappe from AS Monaco and any funds received by selling Bale could go towards making the 18-year-old the most expensive player in history. But if Real are open to selling Bale, it would appear he has just one destination: Man United. The Red Devils are the only club who have been linked with Bale and rumours have surfaced once again in the British media that the winger could be on his way to Old Trafford.

'Fresh encouragement' that Bale is possible

According to the Telegraph, Man United have been given “fresh encouragement” in their pursuit of the former Tottenham star and could make a new move for the player.

This hope stems from Zinedine Zidane’s recent admission that one of his leading attackers could leave this summer.

“I hope they all stay for this season,” the Real coach said. “I hope everyone remains. I want everyone who is here now to stay, but anything can happen right up until August 31.”

Real need more to fund Mbappe move

Monaco have slapped a £161 million price tag on Mbappe’s head and of all the players in Real’s squad who could fetch a large sum, Bale is perhaps the most dispensable.

The Telegraph go on to claim that Los Blancos need to raise more money in order to fund a move for Mbappe, which is rather surprising considering their penchant for spending huge sums of money and the fact that they’ve brought in around £90m in sales this summer.
