It’s a good time to be a Chelsea fan, let’s be honest here.

Not only are the Blues reigning Premier League champions, but they are already showing promising signs in their bid to retain the title. Just ask any Arsenal fan that saw their side’s recent clash in Beijing.

Antonio Conte has made a conscious effort to improve his side this summer and isn’t resting on last season’s success. The summer of 2015 serves to show how a lack of spending can derail a Chelsea title defence.

In fact, the west London club have improved nearly every area of their side. Antonio Rudiger has been brought in to bolster the defence and Tiemoue Bakayoko looks to be a deadly partner for N’Golo Kante.

Then there is the capture of Alvaro Morata who, for £68 million, looks to be the perfect man to cover for Diego Costa’s impending departure. The free signing of Willy Cabellero has even offered depth between the sticks.

And breathe.

Chelsea aren’t looking to stop there, though, and Conte is keen to amend the unsustainable lack of depth with which they worked last year. Making so few changes would be distinctly unwise given the new problem of European games.

The Italian could have as much as £150 million war chest to call upon and there are numerous options on the line.

According to the Telegraph, the English duo of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ross Barkley are in his crosshair and, as per The Times, Alex Sandro could be made the world’s most expensive defender.

A more realistic and economic avenue the club are exploring, however, proves a loan move for Renato Sanches. The Blues have joined the likes of Manchester United in the race for the Portuguese with a late approach, report the Telegraph.

Conte made his enquiry after Chelsea’s recent pre-season clash with Sanches’ club, Bayern Munich. He is believed to have personally spoken with Carlo Ancelotti after the march to discuss a potential agreement.

Bayern are more than willing to permit a loan move, too. AC Milan are believed to be seeking a permanent capture and, as a result, Chelsea may hold the upper hand in the hunt for the midfielder.

The champions’ interest is also reported to exceed that of United’s.

Sanches endured a tumultuous debut season at the Allianz Arena and has failed to live up to his substantial promise. Nevertheless, there can be no doubting the 19-year-old’s talent, hence Bayern’s preference for a loan.

The Premier League would, if anything, be a more difficult task than the Bundesliga but Sanches could thrive under Conte’s wing. With no transfer fee required, why not take the chance?
