For much of the last few weeks, the footballing world has been dominated by the future of Barcelona superstar, Neymar.

The Brazilian winger has been linked with a world-record transfer to French giants, Paris Saint-Germain, with the Ligue 1 outfit set to meet his £197m release clause.

The proposed deal would more than double the £89m Manchester United paid for Paul Pogba last summer and pretty much sums up the inflated financial state football finds itself in.

Barca have tried to quash the rumours and keep hold of one of their prized assets but it looks ever more likely that the 25-year-old will cross the border to finally emerge from Lionel Messi's prestigious shadow.

Neymar is desperate to be the talisman of a top European side, the man that everyone depends on to produce the decisive moments of magic.

At Barca, his actions are often dwarfed by Messi's greatness. This is why the move to Paris is such a distinct possibility and some new revelations hint that the stunning transfer appears to be simply a formality.

Chinese online travel agency Ctrip has released a statement saying that Neymar and his team have cancelled a promotional in order to resolve 'transfer issues'.

The statement read, per Goal: "It's with great regret that we must announce the cancellation of Neymar’s forthcoming ‘fans meeting’ set to begin in Shanghai on 31 July.

"Mr. Neymar and his team occupy themselves dealing with transfer issues and they cannot say for sure whether they could manage to arrive in Shanghai on 31 July. So we decided to cancel the ‘fans meeting’.

"Ctrip solemnly promise that all tickets for the ‘fans meeting’ in Shanghai will be refunded at point of purchase and the buyers will be contacted by us soon."

Could this be the biggest hint yet that Neymar is off? It could well be. Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted that the decision rests on the shoulders of the former Santos star.

Clearly, he's rolling it over in his head and a final decision appears to be imminent.
