While Neymar looks to be heading towards a move away from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, it seems the Catalan club are intent on replacing him with Philippe Coutinho.

Barca have already had two bids rejected for the Liverpool star but are likely to continue their charm offensive for the 25-year-old.

Despite Barca’s interest, Jurgen Klopp has continually reassured Liverpool fans that their best player won’t be leaving the club this summer.

"If I say he is not for selling, he is not for selling," he declared. "There is nothing else to say. It’s a club decision, it’s my decision. That’s how it is.

"I can say 20 times, he is not for sale. If you ask the other question the other way and I say, there has been no assurance, you make the story the other way. There is no story for me. Whatever happens from their side, I say he is not for sale. The answer is — not for sale."

But this is Barcelona we’re talking about.

Coutinho has the opportunity to play alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in front of 99,000 at the Camp Nou every other week. You certainly couldn’t begrudge him if he wanted to leave for Barcelona.

The sacrifice Coutinho is willing to make

In fact, according to one Spanish outlet, he’s willing to make a big sacrifice in order to join Barca.

According to Sport, Coutinho is willing to take a pay cut to force through a move to the La Liga giants.

In January, Coutinho signed a new five-year contract worth around £150,000-per-week.

While his basic salary would be less in Barcelona, he would be earning several different variables - something that is common in Spain.

For example, Coutinho would receive significant bonuses for each trophy the club wins - as well as payments depending on matches played and goals scored.

According to the report, Barca and Coutinho’s representatives have already spoken about terms and have reached a principle agreement under which the player would receive a salary lower than at Liverpool.

But if he has a successful season - both individually and collectively - he would earn plenty of bonuses meaning he would earn more at Barcelona than he currently does at Liverpool.
