Once it was announced that Neymar was close to agreeing on a £197m switch to Paris Saint-Germain, the future of Philippe Coutinho was thrown into doubt. That is because Barcelona became desperate to land the Liverpool star for two reasons; firstly, they may need a replacement for Neymar and secondly, signing Jurgen Klopp's talisman could persuade him to stay in Catalunya.Liverpool reportedly rejected a bid of around £72m for Coutinho from the Blaugrana with the manager slapping a £133m price tag on the mercurial midfielder.

Fans are desperate for him to stay regardless of any mega-money bid, mainly due to the fact that the former Inter Milan man enjoyed a sensational campaign last season.

Coutinho scored 13 Premier League goals while assisting seven more, firmly asserting himself as one of the finest players in England's top-flight.

But, the fleet-footed Brazilian has not won over everyone, with former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders saying that Klopp should not reject the financial advances of Barcelona.

In fact, he lists three targets the Reds should pursue if they do indeed receive a substantial bid from the La Liga giants

“£100million sell him,” Saunders told talkSPORT, per Mirror.

“For me, he’s replaceable. You could sign Isco for £30million. He’s not going to get a game at Real Madrid.

“Juan Mata, Sigurdsson - there are players you could sign to replace Coutinho.

Yeah, not sure what he's really talking about either. Naturally, Liverpool fans on Twitter tore into their former player.

If Saunders thinks £30m can buy you Isco, he is sadly, very mistaken.

The fact that Ross Barkley is valued at £50m means the Spanish star is worth closer to the £89m Manchester United paid for Paul Pogba.

As for Gylfi Sigurdsson, well, the Icelandic midfielder may have enjoyed a brilliant 2016/17 campaign but he is simply not at Coutinho's level.

Saunders also suggests Mata but again, the Welshman clearly doesn't understand that United would never sell a crucial member of their squad to their bitter rivals.

Maybe punditry just isn't for you Dean.
