The Cleveland Cavaliers' handling of Kyrie Irving's reported trade request has given the NBA offseason an extra breath of life.

As the summer began to wrap up for NBA teams, Irving shook the entire league up by letting the Cavaliers' brass know he was ready to move on to the next chapter in his life. Cleveland can hold onto the 25-year-old All-Star, who's under contract for two more years at least, but the trade calls are reportedly pouring in.

It's not surprising to hear that teams are jumping on the chance to give Irving that fresh start he seeks away from LeBron James. He's one of the best young point guards in the league, and every team should have some level of interest in evaluating what it'd take to acquire him.

Teams around the league have been gathering "intel" on Irving as they consider how big of a blockbuster deal they're willing to part with to land Irving, according to a huge report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN

About 20 teams have called the Cavaliers regarding Irving, per Wojnarowski, and six teams have already made legitimate offers to Cleveland. It's sounding more and more like an Irving trade will be orchestrated sooner rather than later.

The San Antonio Spurs, LA Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and Miami Heat have all made some sort of offer to acquire Irving, reports Wojnarowski. Four of those teams (Knicks, Spurs, Timberwolves, Heat) are on Irving's reported "preferred" destination list.

The Cavaliers will clearly have no shortage of offers to sort through, and there may be no better time than now to look ahead to a future without Irving, and possibly without LeBron based on reports of him keeping his options open once he becomes a free agent in 2018.

The Cavaliers held an introductory press conference for new general manage Koby Altman, with the man in charge of navigating these trade discussions flanked by team owner Dan Gilbert. The duo painted a situation where the Cavaliers aren't panicking to trade Irving, and Gilbert even floated that he expects Irving to be on the team come training camp.

One team will eventually put an offer on the table that will be next to impossible for Cleveland to refuse - or at least that's what the leverage the Cavaliers' front office is meant to do - and it's clear NBA teams are getting ready to crank up the heat being the team that lands Kyrie.
